The TIPS4PED policy database is live
August 20, 2026On 29 October 2026 between 10:00 and 11:30 CEST, the TIPS4PED project will host its second webinar, focusing on the importance of linking transportation systems with Positive Energy Districts.
TIPS4PED, a Horizon Europe project, aims to promote the development of positive energy districts (PEDs) across Europe through the development, and deployment, of Digital Twins.
Cities are responsible for a substantial share of human climate and environmental impacts. Energy consumption in urban areas is more concentrated and, at the same time, the opportunity to decarbonise transport systems is also greater due to the concentration of journeys and shorter average distances of each journey. There is, therefore, a need to factor transport systems into local energy grids as we proceed with the transition to Net Zero and deployment of PEDs. This can materialise in various forms; it could mean encouraging residents of a PED to use less energy-intensive forms of mobility, or integrating charging facilities for electric vehicles as standard when designing a PED. Achieving a truly positive energy district will require a variety of approaches to both reduce energy consumption and green the energy systems, including transport, within the district.
This second TIPS4PED webinar will therefore explore the intersection between transport systems and PEDs. We will hear from experts within the project, project cities that are working on this approach and invited guests with insights to share.
A full agenda will be published in due course.
